Great Wiki framework! Tried a few others as I prepped my dept for an intranet/knowledge base solution. None came close (maybe TWiki), easy to deploy, easy to dev on, and most importantly easy to bring not-so-quick learners up to speed. Install DW, learn a little syntax, create pages.... that simple. If your good at config/admin of servers and other systems, the ACL and other configurables will be a walk in the park. Stores in plain/flat files, which I'm usually against, but it does it well. Very stable and pretty bug free too..... I could go on and on. On the flip side, its not super powerful; turning it into a CMS takes some work. There are a decent number of plugins available.

Installation can be painful on shared host, not DWs fault. ACL is powerful, but quite complicated, not DWs fault.

It seems as Google doesn't get along with DW very well. Couldnt find out why.

Otherwise best wiki we ever used - loads of easy-to-install plugins, active developers, nice forum, performance is very good, some clever caching used.

A good Wiki for *light* use. Great for personal or small departmental use. Do NOT use it in an enterprise/corporate environment - it can't handle the load, really bogs down, and finally just collapses under it's own weight. If you need something with muscle, keep looking. google-clone

Great tool! Very easy to understand but very customizable too!

Doku Wiki offers the best Chinese character support than most of the wiki software I have tried. (Twiki, tikiwiki, etc)

Light, easy to setup and powerful, recommend to all users especially for SME company.

It is good for all Chinese people!!

I just wanted to correct what I think may be misinterpreted. I used PMWiki for 3 years and then turned to Dokuwiki exactly because in the end, it was *much* much easier to use. PMwiki is very powerful in terms of customizability. And so many web master who need that will use it. But dokuwiki's new user management and ACL tools and hierarchical names space layout are, in the end, from an admin angle, light years ahead of PMwiki... you *can* do all that stuff in PMwiki, but be prepared to spend the wee hours of the night tweaking plugins and hand managing conf files until your eyes bleed. So, if you are really just doing docs and you don't need all the bells and whistles and you have limited time in your life, need the namespaces and want minute control of access without having to create ten different wiki's Dokuwiki is definitely the winner. Not everyone wants to have run and maintain a 747, just to fly across town.

Fantastic. We use it as a knowledge base. Extremely fast searching and much easier to use than Mediawiki.

Great! Really easy to understand. You exactly know what you're doing.

Excellent Wiki, we use it at the office and are very happy, ACL is great! Splitbrain people, great work :-)

I have 3 installations of dokuwiki, and I think it is great. Installation with no problems, easy administration, no database (easy backup of all data). I use it at work and for private use (my private knowledge base wiki). For a small intranet or personal wiki it is probably the best choice.

I have been looking round for a WIKI for a while and tried a few that were pretty difficult to use. Then I remembered OpenSourceCMS and tried this. It is very very good. It does not burden the user with too many features (there are plugins available but I have not looked in to those - don't need them), but provides pretty much everything I need with a simple, friendly interface and well written documentation.

Im about to install Dokuwiki live having testied it over the last week on my home server. It has proved a good experience and im hoping it will be as good in a live environment. Looking good so far, Thanks docuwiki team :)

The latest release of DokuWiki is completely reworked. The 'Admin' area now has a User manager, ACL Manager, Plugin Manager and a Configuration Manager (the need to edit your configuration files in vi has almost gone). Looks very good too, and with the Monobook template, you can make it look almost exactly like WikiPedia. Of course, the big advantage is that DokuWiki does not require a SQL database, so anyone can setup a DokuWiki in his webserver's 'public_html' directory (which is exactly what I am doing at the moment). Great work, guys!

It looked promising, and I like all the features, but I turned to PMwiki because the password only access system of PMwiki is so much easier to setup, as well as the default look of PMwiki is easier on the eyes and easier to work with from start. Dokuwiki lacks themes PMwiki has. Sure, it has some nice ones, but it's just not cutting it for me. PMwiki wins in ease of use, by far. My feeling is also that it's less bloated and performance is greater than that of dokuwiki.

I was looking for a wiki that would 'just work' without caring about how nice it was. It turns out that DokuWiki is not only dead simple to setup, but its also the nicest wiki I've used. Kudos to the DokuWiki hackers for some great work.

At first I was optimistic with dokuwiki but the 2nd day, I realise that it is not so easy to install and configure as I red. I wanted to create a documentation open for everyone to read but controled to write. On a web side I don't have root acces. The myslq admin is just idea but is like not finish. No administation part. I expected a configuration interface where I add users, passwords and right, but I image I have to do that by hand or finish it in adding some php lines. Conclusion it is good for open wiki but the authentification administration is not finished !

There is also a project that allows easy integration of DokuWiki into Joomla as a component http://www.joomladeveloping.org

Some time ago, I decided to redesign my homepage using external engine like CMS or Wiki. I spent some time to testing the following engines: Joomla, Drupal, MediaWiki and DokuWiki. I was looking for engine, that is very easy to maintenance, easy to extend and has a lot of useful plugins or extensions. And finally I decided to use DokuWiki. This is great product!

Easy install, syntax plugins, permissions, footnotes. All funtions very well. Excelent work. I use Dokuwiki for a German intelectual property information pool (patent law, trademarks, copyright, domains, etc).

Dokuwiki is rather easy to set up. It has a simple ACL (access control list) mechanism that allows you to make pages read-only for groups of users. Only

great wiki syntax, i use it for projectorganisation and projectdocumentation

An ideal wiki for documentation, 5/5 for dokuwiki!

Very good for a flat file system ... but what I really need is permission control
