I was looking for a simple single blog solution, so gave LifeType a trial. Unfortunately it seems to have lagged far behind its competitors in terms of features and ease-of-use, although development does seem to be ongoing, which is a good thing.

i was installed this system.my opinion Life Type need devoloped. Themes are poor and interface is old..
Posted By: Abred on June 3 2007 04:40 pm
I tried several blog systems. Prerequisite for me was the ability to host multi-user / multi-blog. This version only has one draw back, every user that registers automatically gets a blog. However drawback, it my intention to have that but there will be sites who would like to limit that.
I recommend giving it a spin.
Posted By: debianus on May 30 2007 03:27 am
The new version (1.2.2) is excelent; the problem with the install on 1.2 are solved
Versins 1.1.x were a few slows, but now lifetype is very fast.
The administration is very easy and I prefer it over wordpressMU;negative point: there is no a lot of themes for choice. However is the multi-blogging platform perfect. Try it.
Posted By: sprocket on January 21 2007 09:05 am
This is a VERY nice blog. It hasn't the bells and whistles of Wordpress and BlogCms which I find overkill in most situations. I think the speed is OK, but I agree it would be nice to have a flat file XML version.
It definitely has the look and feel of a great application!
Posted By: Sebastyne on October 13 2006 06:47 am
I really like this one. As soon as they get around to making it possible for users to create blogs by themselves, it is perfect. However, it's great for anyone who wishes to host a selected group blogs, like friends or such.

I'm finding a right blog engine for my site, blogvui.com, and LifeType is the choice. I tried b2evolution and Nucleous. Both seem to be good but Nucleous back-end really need some touch to make it state of art. B2evo is well structured but quite complicated to generic users. Its new 1.8 version CANNT post unicode Vietnamese characters. LifeType is elegant, simple and easy to manage. It has a summary page and for user templates are so many.
Posted By: niajahi on June 1 2006 09:08 am
I've heard about this tool, admin section looks nice and neat; though there is that extra click you need to take to get to where you want. Not sure if I can get used to it though.
Posted By: Das Blumchen on May 6 2006 09:32 am
Would be better w/o MySQL

I was very happy when i have hound this software. But it is very slow...veeeeeery slow. Practically useless on shared hosting

Great Blog Software, actually only Free Blog script with Builtin Multi Blog capability. I was going to use Blog script which cost $399 but then find this great script. Presently I am using it to add free blogs to one of my site.

i'll try it out!

A little bit of slow but friendly admin interfaces and easy to use. The post editor is not so good in current version but should be improved soon.

'Plog' just updated to LifeType 1.0.3 (www.lifetype.net) and I believe it is now one of the fastest out there. Smooth uploading and good community make it all worthwhile.

I have been looking at multi blog software for awhile and according to everything I have read this seems to be the best. So I think I will be going with LT. Good to read all the comments here.

LifeType is a great software package and has numerous features. However, it is VERY slow even when using their suggested settings for improving speed. I have tried it on 3 seperate hosts and still ran into speed issues. Definately alot slower than it's competition.
Posted By: Robert on January 12 2006 10:38 am
Easy to use, and very customizable. the PHP source code is one of the best written and structured I have found on a PHP based weblog software. It uses the easy and powerful Smarty template system. My site uses a custom template that was made in a few hours modifying one of the included template

Posted By: oscar on April 8 2005 12:20 pm
plog already validates as xhtml 1.0 strict, and the issues with the validation of www.plogworld.net were content-related issues and not layout issues. We shall be more careful next time.

pLog already has a powerful template editor plugin. Trust me, you can not find such functionality in other blog system.

From a quick scan through, it looks very nice. Will probably download and give it a try. However, it doesn't validate as xhtml 1.0 strict, so it shouldn't be using the link to suggest that it will.
Posted By: Oreb Nightchough on April 6 2005 04:46 am
I just tried v1.0 here and it seems quite nice but if there's an editable CSS or template file, I couldn't find it. Obviously I can do that externally but it should be part of the package.
Posted By: Christian on February 23 2005 04:45 am
I have been using pLog for a bigger site for about 6 months. And i think that with the upcomming 1.0 release* it is going to be a perfect solution for future blog hosts.
* The 1.0 version probaly comes in april/may 2005.

I've decided that out of all the blog packages I've tried, I prefer pLog. But their domain isn't recognized any longer. I've downloaded (again) all the files from sourceforge but I'm missing the documentation. I'm going to try to remember it but if anyone knows where they've gone or where the installation help might be, please give a holler. :)
