glFusion Description

glFusion gives you the ability to easily create websites and online communities complete with add-ons like Forums, CAPTCHA/Spam filters, Calendars, File & Media Gallery management solutions, WYSIWYG editors, and MooTools AJAX support, all right out of the box.

What makes glFusion different from the vast array of CMS or blog platforms available?

The answer is integration. Rather than develop a small core system, and rely on 3rd party plugins to extend functionality, glFusion gives you a majority of the tools you might need, in a single robust package.

The benefit of this development approach is a tight integration between different parts of the system, without having to hunt down 3rd party plugins, make sure they're compatible, go through compatibility pains when one component releases an upgrade, but the other parts of the system don't and it breaks, etc.

We figure you already have enough stress in your life, why should you have more! Welcome to glFusion, where you can have synergy, stability, and style!

Unique features include:

  • Automated 3rd Party Plugin Installation - Upload plugin archives directly through an online interface. glFusion will extract the archive and put all files in their proper places. All you have to do is click Install!

  • Integrated Menu Builder - Allows you to change the site menus using an online editor!

  • Direct WYSIWYG Integration - See exactly how your story will look as you type it!

  • Pre-Installed Plugins - Additional functionality and enhanced security:

    • Bad Behavior2 - A great tool that blocks bot attacks, spam bots, and other nasties from the Internet.

    • CAPTCHA - Ensures that humans are the only ones entering content on your site.

    • Forum - A community collaboration and discussion tool.

    • FileMgmt - A complete File Manager for your site.

    • Media Gallery - A complete multi-media manager.

glFusion is fully documented and gives you a true XHTML compliant site with a pure CSS driven layout. The design is SEO friendly and is also accessible by screen readers and other assistance tools used by the visually impaired.

Default theme is uber ugly and looks like its from the 90s or something :D. And trying to make your own theme is like trying to go to Mars by walking there :D. Other than that it's awesome.

glFusion is one consummate and comprehensive platform -- it has pretty much everything. I spent some time actually removing functionality I did not want to keep it simple. But, if there is anything I want to add or customize, glF is ready, willing and able. For e.g., I am looking for user registration/mgmt on another related site, instead of putting in the effort to develop this from scratch, I am considering simply building a bridge b/w the other website and my glFusion site, which comes with, OMG, everything you can ask for regarding user mgmt.

If you need to have your work look professional, run always and be extensible, go with this. If you want a simple website, a db-less forum, quick mockup or the like, then this is not for you (not that it cannot do it, but this will be overkill for you). You will need a tiny bit of technical knowhow. But, do not let that daunt you. Plus, the folks on the glF forum are available and able to help you set it up.

glF is currently THE platform for serious work, IMHO. Good luck.

Having initially built my CMS solution from Geeklog, I found the migration to glFusion to be straightforward and simple. glFusion is a consummate CMS capable of supporting PHP 5, MySQL, HTML 5 and CSS comfortably. Load times are vastly improved and the plug-in functionality is extensive. While not a solution for the non-code friendly developer, glFusion is very capable and extremely secure. It is my CMS of choice, bar none!

This is one of the best CMS I have been working with, very functional, with intuitive interface. It's a pitty that it's still not quite widely known

We have been using this CMS for over 2 years. glFusion is easy for the beginning webmaster and flexible enough for the tweakers. Very straight forward and if you need help, glFusion's team is fast with a response.

The one thing I praise glFusion for is their attention to security. If you look at Secunia and other exploit databases you won't see many (if any) entries for this CMS.

The only real downside is that glFusion has a lack for themes, meaning the webmaster, or appointed developers would be tasked to create some. Functionality and ease of use however get a 5/5. Good work glFusion.

I have been using glfusion for a while now and I must say that it has been excellent. There are many plugins to choose from, including extra security and the service that the guys and community deliver at glfusion is outstanding. I would certainly recommend glfusion.

Best and easiest Open Source CMS, setup in no time and loads and loads of extra's for your users! Needs themes so if you're a digital artist come on and get into GLF, once you start you'll get hooked. Support is AWESOME, advanced features, constantly updated, multi language(!) etc.
I would recommend GLF to everybody being so flexible in setup and extensions, give it a try, you'll love it!

First off, what a fantastic piece of kit we have here. While the CMS itself may have a few areas on which it can improve, the staff team are constantly aware of this, constantly improving it version after version, and constantly listening to user thoughts and opinions.

At first the themeing process go's right over anyones head, but as soon as you sit down, and read their well written documenation wiki, you'll be fast to realise exactly how it works, and why it's so great to use.

Whilst there isnt a constant stream of plugins, the essentials are already present, in the form of forums, private messaging, media gallery, and so on. As more people with experience come to this CMS, we can no doubt expect to see these plugins further improved, and even new plugins popping up.

I currently run a site using Glfusion (http://combatarms-eu.com) and it seems to have been fairly successful since site release. I certainly have no complaints from an admins point of view. Any issues we have stumbled across have either been resolves quickly by mark and geiss on the glfusion forums, or been fixed and added to the next update of glfusion.

This CMS has everything built in. A Photo Gallery, Forum, Calendar, easy to use Admin panel and many more features. I tried many other products including some paid ones, this one in my opinion is the best.

This is a very very very good CMS!

I tried other cms' (like Joomla, PHP-Fusion, WordPress) and non of them have the power of this one! :D It has it all, but you'll need some time (and i mean TIME) to get used to it. The only thing that's disappointing me is that it consumes to much memory_limit from the webhost server, but if you can set this to a bigger MB then it's ok.

CMS, Blog, Lot of Plugins (Media Gallery, Forum, Calendar, FileManager, DokuWiki and more!) is what makes this CMS the BEST

This is my own opinion :)
