PivotX is a nice way to experience a CMS.
I'm a complete newb with CMS but with PivotX i'm learning the basics.

I think it's even better than Joomla.

PivotX is only getting better. Easy to use and modify, even if you are not an expert. Wouldn´t be surprised if it becomes the successor of Wordpress some day.

Great tool for what I need.
The support community is fantastic, took my suggestion and turned it into a new feature in a matter of days.

It's what OSS is all about. :)

PivotX is a feature-rich blogging software that supports a good degree of customization too. But do out of the box customizations carefully.

An example is here:

had a quick look and it's a bit like Joomla and Wordpress together.

A very nice blog/cms tool for what it is.

Extremely easy to theme, best for website with mostly static pages + simple blog setup.

Very nice for putting up a "version one" website quickly, a simple blog, or mini-sites (such as for a specific event, project etc). For many people who don't see themselves using the "bloat" features this package has everything you need.

Also nice is the fact that it can use flatfile for storage - backup by drag-n-drop in ftp. Great for people using cheapo servers that don't offer a database.

Now the bad: forget about the description: "...a great tool to maintain more complex websites as well". The features just aren't there at the moment. PivotX just hits 2.0.0, but despite the name it really is beta quality software (even for an opensource project).

Annoyances just crop up left and write the more you customize it and discovers something's broken, again. Not that I'm placing blames here since I think for the scope of the project and amount of ppl they got the devs are doing a good job. Just don't count on getting little bugs fixed overnight and expect it to actually have the power to handle complex / big sites like promised here.

Use the right tool for the job. Despite all the complaints I still think this is one of the nicest tool for small, mostly static sites.

I have been using it for 3 sites already and it is a fine tool to work with. Nice and clean setup.
