The approach behind Phire as a full-featured CMS is familiar, yet different. As you can see by the features overview list above, Phire has some familiar CMS "standards" included as well as some new features built-in, right out of the box. The goal is to try and provide you with a pretty robust feature set from the start. Where other publishing platforms may have plugins or extensions that you have to download, add-on and/or configure to use certain features, Phire gives you those features at your fingertips from the beginning.

The arrival of Phire comes at an opportune time.

It embraces the latest version of PHP — 5.3 — and its application framework is object-oriented in nature. Of course, the CMS is backwards compatible to PHP 5.2.6, so no need to worry if you don't have the latest version of PHP available.

What that means to the designer or non-developer is that you'll find a lot of familiar CMS-like features that are easy-to-use or vastly improved. From the developer standpoint, you'll find an application framework that is well-structured and easy to understand. And of course, if the features "out of the box" aren't robust enough for you, the CMS can easily be extended.

The Phire CMS v1.1.2 has been released. It simply addresses a few added features regarding archive and recent content listing and management.

The Phire CMS v1.1.1 has been released. In this release, a few more features, as well as some security enhancements, have been added.

Phire v1.1 Release (01/09/2011)

The Phire CMS v1.1 has been released. In this release, a handful of great new features have been incorporated, including language support, nested sections, more blog-like features and more. You can download the new version at the Phire CMS site, or if you already have Phire CMS installed, you can update it via the dashboard. You will be prompted to update upon login. You can then either follow the update via FTP or install it manually if you choose.

Phire v1.0.1 Update (11/22/2010)

The Phire CMS v1.0.1 update has been released. The update addresses a few security patches as well as some minor revisions and upgrades. If you already have Phire CMS installed, you can update it via the dashboard. You will be prompted to update upon login. You can then either follow the update via FTP or install it manually if you choose.
