MODx Description

MODx is an open source CMS that helps you take control of your website. It makes updates easy, empowering end-users with as much control as you desire over website content and update frequency.

Techies call MODx a Content Management System (CMS for short). It's also a pretty schwanky Application Framework. A robust and flexible API and an event override system makes building engaging web projects and changing core functionality without hacking its code! a breeze.

Not only does MODx help you build sites fast, but it also hides its tremendous power unless it's needed. As far as end users know, MODx is just an easy-to-use CMS with tons of freely available resources and one heck of an end user community.

This is as Etomite fork. I suggest you try out the real thing: Etomite CMS http://www.etomite.org/

@ David C The demo is in English by default. Every once in a while someone changes it in the configuration. You can try to find your way through whatever language to change it back or just wait for the next reset cycle (ever two hours).

David C., sometimes testers change the language values. You can either wander in and change them back or wait until the next reset (2 hours at most) and find the English demo right here. Again.

I am using this CMS on my personale site after trying many others like Joomla, Mambo, Drupal, Wordpress and MovableType as weblogs but none of them is that easy and scalable but still powerfull as MODx is. Very good work of these guys! My vote: Best Boby

AJAX CMS - Fine Web 2.0 ? Just using AJAX does not mean its Web 2.0 . But still, great system. :)

Excellent software. I have been able to do more in just 10 minutes with Modx then I did in several hours with any of about a half dozen other CMS's I've tested. I'm HTML savvy, CSS average, and a php beginner, but Modx makes it easy to create a totally custom page using my html and css skills and then add content as needed. Loving it! Still have more to do before I can publish, but it's easy to see the path forward with this software then I could with the others.

I looked at MODx after reading posts in the forum that suggested it would be an easy CMS to create custom features for. It installed pretty easily on my GoDaddy-hosted site. However, it only comes with two templates (Default and Minimal). Changing to a new template from the modxcms.com web site involved more manual configuration than I like as a CMS newbie. The new template broke the new blog post page -- I had to change back to the default template, create my new blog post, then change back to the new template to see the new post. Also, I followed the instructions to disable comments, but I able to make new comments anonymously. I don't think MODx is quite ready for prime time yet, but it looks like it could have a great future.
