MODx Description

MODx is an open source CMS that helps you take control of your website. It makes updates easy, empowering end-users with as much control as you desire over website content and update frequency.

Techies call MODx a Content Management System (CMS for short). It's also a pretty schwanky Application Framework. A robust and flexible API and an event override system makes building engaging web projects and changing core functionality without hacking its code! a breeze.

Not only does MODx help you build sites fast, but it also hides its tremendous power unless it's needed. As far as end users know, MODx is just an easy-to-use CMS with tons of freely available resources and one heck of an end user community.

I have some background with Content Management Systems, which may be the reason I found MODx easy to approach. MODx has useful content tree, uses straightforward HTML-templates with tags, utilizes PHP snippets, etc... Good stuff! MODx is not as 'automatic' as some tools, but that's a good thing for me. I don't want to end up fighting the auto-magic! :) I must disagree with the previous poster. MODx is very much ready for the prime time. Don't take my word for it - go and see their website showcase forum!

I tried Typo3, Mambo (Jamoola wasn't out), PhpNuke, E107, Etomite, Drupal, Netdoc, Webgui, Egroupware (with Sitemgr), Site Baker, Plone and more..... So I can say quite comfortanly that MODx is the best CMS available. I have to be honest and say there aren't the 100's of addons (Modules, Snippets & Plugins) that are in other CMS's, but its still in BETA and rivals other CMS for core functionality. However, with some PHP knowledge you can built what ever you want into the CMS, if like me you don't have that skill, there are many helpful people on the forums or IRC who are always friendly and helpful. More stuff is being added everyday and is making MODx kick arse of all other more mature CMS's. I'm glad I found it and the community and highly recommend you at least try it for yourself.

Page selector at the bottom? Number in the same shade of red? Err...Bob...what are you talking about? Sorry if that sounded short...just trying to understand the issue. I'm on the same platform and don't quite understand where you're getting these issues from.

The page selector at the bottom has no indication of what page you are currently on (at least on my machine, XP/IE). All the numbers are in the same shade of red. I've never seen this behavior before on any other web page. I don't know if it's Modx or the choice of colors.

Myself and a friend are making a website for a youth group, and started off planning to use joomla, but have since decided to use MODx. It is an extremely powerful CMS which you can modify greatly if needed. The only problem I have come across is because of its 'young age' it does not have the same support as the more established CMV's which now that I am trying to get it running on my OpenBSD webserver is looking to be quite an issue.

Due to typos, I had logon failure and got blocked! It's a demo, guys... give me a break. Do you have to lock people out of the demo??? :) I was on a time deadline and now I can't finish checking it out to get up and running on time...

This is the ultimate CMS for all. It it full of capabilities, has the power and a lot more. But I felt like it was a bit slow. It slowed down my server... I'll give it 4.8/5!

Wow! This is one slick CMS. The developers have done a fantastic job on this. It is so polished for such an early project. It's making me giddy with excitement over where this will end up. but even for now, it's the best implemntation I have ever seen and I've looked at way too many CMS's in the past year. This is the one I'm going to embrace, learn backwards and forwards and use to develop my client websites that require a CMS. BRAVO!

This is one wonderful CMS, combines both simplicity in design with maximum flexibility when it comes to adding extra functionality to a site. Use of little pieces of code called snippets allows new features to be implemented quickly and efficiently. The templating system is quite unique, it does have a small learning curve but it only took me about 10mins to set up a working site from a fresh install. The only downside is the lack of an integrated forum but work is well on the way to set an SMF bridge. All in all, 5/5 for an excellent system!!

Well I am just really starting to look into cms solutions and I have to say, this already stands out ahead of the others for the flexibility I am looking for. Just from looking over the concepts, it appears modx will allow me to be as creative as I want when it comes to the look and feel of a site.

ModX has amazing capabilities. I am extremely impressed with the power that it has. Most importantly, it integrates almost seamlessly with andy already-existing site design because of the way it works with the code. I had it up and running in a matter of minutes on the server . . . and the small learning curve for the implementation of the program was well worth learning. Actually, I think this program has more extensibility and makes more sense than any other CMS that I've run across . . . which includes, Jetbox, Typo3, Phpnuke, Mambo, etc. It is excellent and extremely user friendly, and is easy to install on any php/mysql system.

MODx is undoubtedly the best CMS I have ever come across. Unlike many of the other pieces of software on this site, it is actually a Content Management System rather than a portal. In particular the mod_rewrite functionality is fantastic, as well as the full Web 2.0 compliancy and use of AJAX effects. I can't believe how far this software has come since splitting from Etomite. Everything about this system is perfect; I have yet to find fault with it. And it's not even at version 1 yet! MODx is going to redefine how many of us think of a CMS - not a huge, bloated portal system but a slick, compliant, scalable system aimed at managing content.

This system is really slick. The small learning curve is well worth the effort. FYI...this is more of a developers CMS rather than a common mans tool.

It's finally here: logic, simple, powerfull. I think this it IT. The guy(s) behind this system got it: cms is about managing CONTENT. The most systems have all kinds of
