The administration interface of Rubedo (Back-Office) is shaped like a virtual desktop. It allows for customization of the working environment and access to different administration, web mastering and content management applications through a startup menu. User access to these applications is determined by right and roles. In order to make work easier for contributors, creation and editing features are also available from the front-office (the actual website).
Content and digital assets management
Rubedo allows for effortless creation of new content types (articles, news, events, etc.) without requiring any technical knowledge. This enables flexible definition of parameters for contributors and validators: choice of fields (rich text editor, date, number, evaluation, geolocated address, internal or external digital assets), choice of workflow, taxonomy, rights.
Front-end editing is also available
Collaborate using the access rights, edit your contents inline, tag and organize to optimize SEO and search. Multilingualism is also available.
Rubedo can manage multiple multilingual websites, offering over 50 languages. Each website can have its own languages and use a different localization strategy.
Native responsive web design
In order to meet the expectations of users, cross-platform internet and intranet websites have become a necessity. Rubedo natively creates websites that automatically adapt to the screen size of the device they are being displayed on. With the help of simple checkboxes an administrator can define which elements display on desktops, tablets or smartphones.
CMS Big Data
Designed to manage Big Data, Rubedo uses a NoSQL database MongoDB to deal with high volume data feeds or high traffic.
Access High Performance, Availability and Scalability on commodity hardware while taking advantage of flexibility in data modeling. MongoDB offers real infrastructure scalability to websites built with Rubedo CMS.
The user can customize the look and feel of the interface by choosing themes and wallpapers. He can create shortcut icons to his favorite applications and contents. These icons can be renamed, moved through simple drag and drop, and reordered automatically.
All applications display as windows including a top toolbar, breadcrumb and a footer displaying context information about the selected element. This offers familiar ant natural guiding to the user who only sees the features he has the right to use.
Rubedo is a multi-site solution. Lay down a common base, manage an unlimited number of sub-sites, model and configure a set of site templates and industrialize your roll outs to optimize your costs.
Taxonomy is the science of classification and organization. In Rubedo it allows for the definition of vocabularies composed of a terms organized as a tree and used to classify contents and digital assets.
Multi-classification and automatic updates: Taxonomy allows for a content to be displayed on different pages of the same or a different website without the need for duplication. This gives contributors the advantage of only having to modify content once. Other pages displaying the same content will be automatically updated.
Displaying contents using their classification: Taxonomy also allows for content filter management in order to display contents in blocks such as a list of contents about certain subjects or for the creation of automated navigation links (for example other news about “Jobs”). Rubedo offers dynamic query builder for creating content lists using classifications.
Content search and indexing
The open source search and indexing engine Elasticsearch is built into Robedo. It stands out by its open model knows as documentary or NoSQL which allows for versatile indexing of varied data and by its ability to perform real time indexing on large amounts of data without loss of search performance. Content types created with Rubedo are instantly declared to the indexing engine and contents are indexed in real time. This makes contents searchable for users as soon as they are published.
Taking advantage of the search capabilities of Elastic Search, Rubedo natively offers a facet-based search interface. Facets provide automatic refining to the full text search by filtering results using their author, content type, publication date and also classifaction. The indexing library provides file parsers for the most common file types (doc, xls, ppt, xml, openoffice, pdf, html, txt, …) in order to enable text search on the content of such files.
