XOOPS 2.5.5

I chose XOOPS for most of the sites I do because of the simple module system. No hacking is required to make these work and adding custom code is very simple. For those who want to get away from the boxy portal look, what's needed is a bit of time spent on a good theme and style sheet. However, I agree that this CMS does slow down on very large sites.

Gave up with this CMS and went over to using Wordpress instead. Using PHPBB2 with album plugin and the whole site now looks and feels like the club site i wanted from the start.

Great CMS ! Easy to install... I recommand this CMS for begginers or little websites. In case you've got a lot of visitors per day, you should think about using Plume. It's XHTML strict and you can create a CSS style file to customize your website. So, start on Xoops, and when you're overloaded, go on Plume ! IMHO

Extensible and easy to use even for newbies (provided you read the installation guide). Ideal for community websites, portals, weblogs etc.

I was looking for a package to use for all my non-profits. Although installing XOOPS was fairly straight forward, it proved to difficult for my newbie contributors to modify. Simple things like changing out the banner graphics took hours to try to explain and eventually I just ended up doing it myself. Otherwise, it seems pretty stable.

XOOPS is big and easy CMS. And this is perfect.

This cms/portal realy own! I use it for my site. Just put a Invision Power Board on it and you got the perfect site!!!!

After looking at a lot of CMS, XOOPS was the only choice - the layout of the main site took you straight through to the modules where you can easily see how to customise it. While other sites may be flasher, I think XOOPS has the most add-ons available for it and that is why I chose it. I'm not saying it's the fastest or best (it works well for me), and it has it's fair share of grouching and politics amongst the developers and wannabe's, but it works great for me and does 99% of what I want with no problems. I can't ask for more than that.

If you want to build a portal website with a community, try XOOPS. It's great.

I have tried af few CMS and after carefully testing all of them i have selected xoops. The ones ive used for min. 1 month with almost daily usage are: Drupal, phpBB, xoops and Mambo. The reason i have chosen xoops is that everything i tried for so far has worked flawlessly and there are alot of good modules for it. Also it can do subcategories which i think is important for large sites. Drupal was like the zen of CMS very simple and cool. The reason i fell through was the gallery module didnt like my webhost choice of pic manipulation software. Mambo was to begin with great but it lacked the support for subcategories. There where lotsa modules for Mambo, but most was in early beta and had many bugs - not good for produktion enviroments. phpBB is awsome but only for msgboards. It has tons of addons, they are usually messy coded and hard to install. phpBB is alot of fun and i still use it for pure msgboards like http://husgerning.dk/fun/ Choose mambo for easy access - its great for very specific sites or small sites. Choose drupal for that zen feel. Clean codes and very advanced category system. Choose xoops for portals or sites with alot of content. Easy to use, good category system, many good modules. Choose phpBB for msgboards and your own fun. Hope this helps some ppls.

Xoops is easy, extensive, easy and has every thing what a CMS should need. The support community is greate and even the contributions to this sites in modules are really good. I tried number of CMS before xoops but then finalised to go ahead with xoops as it had much more than what i was looking for. Keep Xooping Vikrant
