WordPress Description

WordPress was born out of a desire for an elegant, well-architectured personal publishing system built on PHP and MySQL and licensed under the GPL. It is the official successor of b2/cafelog. WordPress is fresh software, but its roots and development go back to 2001. It is a mature and stable product. We hope by focusing on web standards and user experience we can create a tool different from anything else out there.

WordPress is a powerful content management system, and it comes with a great set of features designed to make your experience as a publisher on the Internet as easy, pleasant and appealing as possible. We are proud to offer you a freely distributed, standards-compliant, fast, light and free personal publishing platform, with sensible default settings and features, and an extremely customizable core.

Wordpress is a powerful blog script. We can also develop CMS site using wordpress. Wordpress plugin concept is amazing. We can add functionality in wordpress without changing the core / existing files. We can add any useful plugins in site just by installing it from admin section. Wordpress admin site is also very user friendly. So administrators can manage their site easily. Its admin interface is very simple compare to other CMS system like Joomla/Drupal.But one limitations is wordpress can not run well with more than 4000 pages in virtual hosting. If you want to develop in large cms then wordpress is not your choice. Otherwise for Blog/Small scale CMS site wordpress is your perfect choice.

Very easy to administer, childs play. I use wordpress for those clients who I think may have problems administering Drupal, Drupal is by far my favourite, but wordpress is a saviour sometimes. My rank goes like this:
1. Drupal (cms)
2. wordpress (blog/cms)
3. MyBB (forum only site)
4. opencart (ecommerce) *if I use Drupal, then I use the Ubercart module, very good.

To sum up, wordpress is for the first timer, a no brainer, but at the same time very good for experts, it caters for both sides of the fence. There are plenty of themes to choose from, some of which are a realy nice design, I personaly use Thematic and design my own child theme which make designing a theme much easier. I have realy nothing bad to say about wordpress other than hearing that wordpress sites seem to be a target for hackers.

WP is a great open source. Some people knows that it is only used for blogging purpose but WP can easily be implemented as a great most user friendly CMS. Not only that you can smartly develop a Job portal, a Business portal, Real estate, Auction and Social Networking site quite easily. There are many easily available ready made plugins available in the web. No tension.. Just Cool.. I am really greatful to WP development team.

I am using joomla for a couple clients.
Work perfect fast. bunch free stuff, the most is getting in my network where I have several servers and is recognise pointers and so on... Very pleased as IT with Joomla.
Now come to the point, I have a client with very little money and he have a site, like up to 10 to 20 pages but he don't have enough to spent, I did look into WP and my questionsis, can I have for a single website different looks in WP?
Is also have the member front end platform?
Is it working as a CMS or it is work as a Bloger Pro
Thank you!

I used to love WP but all my sites kept getting hacked with malware. Getting emails from clients stating they see a big Google warning page stating the site is distributing malware when they view it is no laughing matter, actually embarrassing to say the least. No matter how many times I installed plugins to try and combat the malware code, it still got installed into pages. I had to delete all files and folders and I'm looking at MODx to try out as a replacement for WP.

If you can't get it to work then you didn't read installation guide. It's simple. I think it can't be more simple. Wordpress is really worth of trying, not only for blogs, because big community and countless plugins make it very extendible. I am successfully running clan site with wp.
I give it 4.7 stars :)
