XenForo

XenForo is an Internet forum software package created using PHP as a programming language, MySQL and Zend Framework. The XenForo license is available for purchase, but depending on the extra XenForo features you would like to add you can pay a higher price. The software was created by lead developers Kier Darby and Mike Sullivan and the first beta version was released in October 2010. The first stable version was released half a year later, on March 8, 2011. XenForo launch did not go out as smoothly as planned, as one day before the originally scheduled released for the first public beta version, the XenForo team was sued by their former employers, vBulletin for copyright infringement and breach of contract. The lawsuit was settled on February 28, 2013 for an undisclosed amount and the development team was ready to focus on developing and improving new XenForo features.

There are a number of XenForo features that made the software popular, amongst which its built-in SEO features and the fact that it focuses on bringing a fresh outlook to forum software. Other XenForo features include social engagement through Facebook integration, easy registration and sharing. Others examples of XenForo features are alerts and receiving updates, or recent activity stream. If you want to change the way your XenForo theme looks like you can use the software’s easy color changer to choose the style you like. There are no code changes required to make more extensive XenForo theme changes. You just need to use the style property editor, or edit HTML and CSS in your favorite editor.

If you want to extend the XenForo features you can choose one of the many add-ons available in the resource manager or build you own. If you want to get a full XenForo review you can try the XenForo demo available on their official website. You just have to login using your email address and create your own XenForo demo site. You can also login to the admin demo panel and see what the software has to offer. If you decide to purchase the software and set up your own XenForo demo, it supports multiple payment options like Paypal or credit card. There are a few system requirements you should keep in mind before you download it and create your online demo. You will need to have at least PHP 5.4.0, although PHP 7.2.0+ is recommended. You will also need MySQL: 5.5+ (MariaDB / Percona also compatible) and some PHP extensions installed like MySQLi, GD (with JPEG support), PCRE and others. Developed in PHP and featuring the components of a CMS, Seagull enjoyed some popularity and benefited from the its enthusiastic community of developers, all of this when CVS (Concurrent Versioning System) was a big hit in the open source software world. While Seagull CMS had its moment in the sun, it was last updated in November 2009, meaning it’s probably hard to find a Seagull demo that will show you what it can do.

Its community of developers focused on creating a modular, extensible, and easy to maintain and upgrade framework that would cater to both individual and corporate needs. You needed at least a webserver, which could have been any version of Apache or IIS, PHP 4.3 or any version above that including PHP 5.1, and of course a database like MySQL, Postgres or Oracle database.

Other features include the fact that it was PHP 4/5 compatible and prided itself on being highly configurable and easy to integrate with 3rd party code. It had stable API and extensive documentation which made it easy for developers to learn it, play around with it and extend its current list of features. It also offered login history, session management and it was SSL compatible. If you had the possibility to login to an admin demo you could also see that it offers template management, content scheduling, themes and other cool admin features. It may not seem like a lot today, but it was enough to become popular at that time. The Seagull CMS core was licensed under BSD and was free to use in Open Source and closed commercial projects.

Pixie CMS was first released by its creator, Scott Evans in May 2008 and it was designed for the creation and management of small websites. Being promoted as a “small, simple, site maker”, Pixie came in second in the Packt Publishing Open Source Content Management System Awards in the category of Most Promising Open Source CMS. Pretty soon after that, Pixie CMS went through the largest upgrade up to date, in March 2010, with the launch of version 1.04 when it featured the new WYSIWYG editor, more available languages and the latest version of jQuery.

When it comes down to installation and setting up a demo site, Pixie CMS requires a minimum of 5 MB of webspace, a PHP version higher than 4.3 (PHP 5.2 was voted as the best choice), MySQL 4.1 or higher and a JavaScript enabled browser. Famous for its ease of use, quick and painless installation process and beautiful interface, Pixie was mostly targeted towards small businesses or individuals who wanted to set up a simple website, organizations or schools.

Just like any other CMS, Pixie brought a lot of features to its users, aside from an intuitive user interface and a variety of themes. It offered search engine optimization capabilities and the option to create clean URLs, a file manager and database backups. If you’re interested in how this CMS works, you can get a preview of its features if you download this content management system and set up a Pixie demo. A quick review of the admin demo will show you that you can set up user privileges, you have multilingual support and a WYSIWYG HTML editor in the admin area.

Pixie CMS is free of charge and released under the GNU General Public License, which allows users to use and modify the software as they please. At the beginning of 2011 Lucid Crew of Austin Texas purchase Pixie CMS and its website.

SugarCRM quickly developed from a simple idea to a successful company selling CRM software and dealing with sales force automation, marketing campaigns, custom support, Social CRM and reporting. In April 2004 its three founders John Roberts, Clint Oram and Jacob Taylor started working full time on the idea and developing a list of SugarCRM features, completely unaware of the fact that success was just around the corner. After incorporating their company in June 2004, SugarCRM received a $2 million investment from Josh B. Stein of DFJ which put a whole different spin on how things turned out. By September 2004, their web application called Sugar Open Space at the time had already been downloaded 25.000 times and in October SugarCRM was named “Project of the Month” on Sourceforge.

The long list of Sugar CRM features, complemented by an intuitive user interface and attention to details have helped this customer relationship management software earn the trust of some of the world’s largest organizations like IBM. However, depending on the size of your business you can choose one of the SugarCRM software editions that fit your needs: Sugar Professional, Sugar Enterprise or Sugar Ultimate.

If you’re interested in a SugarCRM review and you’re eager to see how this customer relationship management software can help solve your problems, you can simply go to the SugarCRM website and watch an online demo. If the examples aren’t enough you can always try the Sugar CRM free trial. After you sign up for the 7 days free trial you can choose to login as one of the suggested personas where you can test different SugarCRM features, without the need to download anything or deal with any installation hiccups.

Choosing the admin demo allows you to control all aspects of the customer relationship management software capabilities and offers a complete SugarCRM review. You can also customize your dashboard and choose one of the default SugarCRM themes. Depending on the product version you are currently using you can also purchase other SugarCRM themes from third-party developers who envisioned the software’s user interface in a different way.

SugarCRM focuses on delivering high quality services with each version released, so they provide an end-of-life plan for their product versions, encouraging their customers to keep up with the updates. The current SugarCRM version is 7.9.x and it will reach its end of life on November 15th 2018. You can use filters and rules to assign incoming tickets to the right departments or staff members and the ticket locking mechanism that allows a staff member to lock a ticket he is working on to avoid conflicting or dual responses from other coworkers.

All suport tickets are archived online, allowing users to login to their account using email and ticket ID, without the need to register for an account. The system also gives you detailed reports regarding the number of tickets and activity for each department involved. osTicket is also completely translatable and can be made available to users in different languages by downloading the language pack.
