Contenido CMS is an open source content management system developed using PHP and MySQL, first released in 2011. It was originally developed for the German marketplace, but it now offers English and Dutch as language alternatives for users who want to install it or see how a Contenido demo looks like. There are thousands of website who have already been built using Contenido CMS.

Contenido offers a lot of great features, but it mostly stands out through its flexibility and integration, offering the possibility to expand its functionality through plugins, which can be easily integrated into the core system. A quick review of the system will show you that you can also customize its appearance by choosing from a variety of themes, or manage multiple websites with just a single Contenido installation. If you login to an admin demo you’ll see that you can concentrate everything into one system, while updates and extensions are unique.

Contenido CMS is a great solution for business, personal or ecommerce websites, offering a responsive design that makes content management easy on all devices. Another highlight of the CMS is its Insite-Editing editor that allows you to edit your content directly in the layout. In order to run, Contenido CMS requires an Apache web server, PHP and MySQL. The latest version of the german content management system, 4.9.12, was released in October 2016. It is released under the GPL license and can be user free of charge, whether you are a company or individual.
